Essential Oil Uses

Many cleaning products are leaving behind chemical and harsh fragrances and moving into fragrances obtained with something called “essential oils.” These oils come in various different flavors like orange, lavender, mint, eucalyptus oil, tea tree oil, and many others! However, even though it’s a part of our daily lives, many people don’t necessarily understand what essential oils are, where do they come from or, more importantly, what great uses can we give to each oil. What they are
Essential oils are just highly concentrated plant extracts. They are obtained through a few different methods, and the part of the plant we get the essential oil from can be different depending on the oil but it is typically the most aromatic part. Rose oil, for example, comes from the petals of the rose and citrus oils come from the rind.
Even though they are all-natural, essential oils make for very potent ingredients! A couple drops really go a long way and most essential oils should actually be diluted, mixed or blended with other ingredients before applying them directly to the skin.
Essential oils have a great big wide range of uses! From aromatherapy to treating skin condition and soothing muscle inflammation… the benefits of essential oils are many! Essential oils can be used, and indeed are used, in personal care products, in home cleaning products, for general well-being in the context of emotional support, and many other ways.
The uses multiply if we consider that there are some specific uses to specific flavors of essential oils. Some of the most popular are orange and lavender, and these two cross over into many different uses! One of the most common uses of essential oils is aromatherapy. Because different oils help with different conditions, essential oils are used for aromatherapy for insomnia or sleepyness, for releaving anxiety, and even for a mental boost!
Which work better?
Lavender Essential Oil - works great as a stress reliever and sleep promotes, stops the itch from insect bites and helps to heal sunburn (remember to mix it with a little aloe vera gel, first!). Clove Oil - Antifungal, helps kill bacteria in the kitchen and the household, helps with cold sores, and has pain numbing properties beneficial for arthritis.
Lemon Essential Oil - Is great at cleaning grease, gunk, BBQ grills and any other dirty utensil! It works great at reducing oil in hair, too (just run 2-3 drops of the oil through your hair every night before bed and you’ll see a difference in just one week)!
Peppermint Essential Oil - Peppermint oil is great for a fast cooling effect and as an allergy reliever (just apply a few drops to your neck and temple lobes) and breathe in the cooling peppermint. Peppermint essential oil also works great for muscle and joint pains. Remember to always dilute a few drops in water when using for muscle aches.
Oregano oil - Add a few drops to a basin of warm water and submerge your feet on it for athlete's foot relief. Oregano essential oil also works as a powerful anti-aging agent.
Rosemary Essential Oil - The benefits of rosemary essential oil are many. It helps with brain health, as it stimulates the central nervous system. It also improves circulation, is a powerful cleaning agent, and is a great relaxant. It also smells great!
