Soap is one of those things that you don’t really appreciate until it’s gone. Imagine running with greasy fingers to the sink after eating a bunch of chicken wings and french fries only to discover that there is no soap. Trust me, you’ll notice it then! However, advancements in soap technology, appearance, and fragrances are making hand soaps a more noticeable commodity.
The evolution of soap has taken the product from a classic soap bar to the introduction in the 1970s of the liquid hand soap and the more recent (and extremely popular) foaming hand soap. Actually, you will notice that public restrooms, business restrooms around the world rely almost exclusively either on liquid hand soap options because of their cleanliness, sustainability, ease of use, and cost-effectiveness.
So, if liquid hand soap has been such a big improvement, what explains the sudden popularity of foaming hand soap and how effective is it?
Well, let’s first briefly explain how foaming hand soap works. Foaming hand soap is actually just a form of liquid hand soap. It is diluted liquid soap that is infused with air to create a rich and foamy lather as it leaves the dispenser. As such, specialized dispensers are required to use foaming hand soap properly. Some are designed for use without refilling, and others (like an awesome one we just love) are refilled regularly.
So, how effective is it?
Well, let’s first clear something up! You might have seen a decline in soaps that are marketed as “antibacterial” on your grocery store, and that is no coincidence! It has been proven that even though “antibacterial” soaps are very effective at removing germs and bacteria from your hands, regular foaming hand soap is just as effective! That’s right. You can just get rid of germs and bacteria with regular soap. But that’s not all, not only is foaming hand soap just as effective as antibacterial soap in getting rid of germs and bacteria, it’s also a more environmentally friendly alternative!
Because foaming hand soap is just a diluted form of liquid hand soap, less soap is needed per wash. It is also considerably thinner and less likely to clog the drains in your house, which means you will not need the harsh chemicals and detergents you usually use to unclog drains. On the other hand (pun intended), you will use about 15%-20% less water washing your hands, because the lather and rinse process is shorter than with regular liquid hand soap. In fact, you can just use foaming hand soap to lather without wetting your hands; you will only need water to rinse the soap, grime, and dirt away! Finally, since foaming hand soap uses just air to create the rich, foamy lather, no artificial foaming agents need to be added to the formula!
And the best part? Foaming hand soap is more cost effective! Since you need less soap to wash your hands, it means that you are wasting less and buying less soap! Foaming hand soap dispensers are created to release less soap than regular soap dispensers do. As a result, customers save money by having to pay less packaging and transportation, less quantity of soap, and less trips to the grocery store!
Foaming hand soap is the best option, hands down!
